The Ultimate Guide to Buying Stylish Embroidered Bags
A woman’s love for bags and clutches cannot ever be fully understood. We all know that a bag has the power to elevate any look. Be it a big clutch or a mini handbag, a bag will make you the talk of the town. Embroidery is something that is making a comeback with the growing trend of totes and clutches. Embroidered clutches handbags for women radiate more glamor and style than any other.
Embroidered bags are not new and have been known to be part of Indian culture for ages. The chic designs and exquisite materials have made them a statement piece. These bags come in several different styles and designs to choose from. Here, we navigate through the process of buying your very own stylish embroidered bag. Let's dive in and find the perfect embroidered bag that reflects your unique personality.
Determine the Purpose and Style
You can first and foremost, start by considering what you will use your bags for. Are you looking for an everyday purse or a statement piece for an evening out? It could also be something in between. This way, you can narrow down to buy stylish embroidered bags according to your preferences. Tally down the style, size, and functionality that you desire. You can find these stylish bags in every style. There are clutches, totes, small handbags, shoulder bags, crossbody bags, and more. Consider your body type and style to choose the best fit.
Choose the Materials Carefully
The material of the handbag you choose should be based on your lifestyle. Most embroidered bags are made of cruelty-free materials, but it is crucial to check them first. Vegan leather is reasonable, durable, and can be embroidered easily. Another popular choice for embroidery is velvet. Velvet is soft and cushiony and brings out the beauty of the embroidered piece so gracefully. Look for bags made from the finest velvet fabric with vibrant colors and hues. Velvet-made clutches handbags for women are also very durable in the long run. They can withstand wear and tear from daily use and look elegant for any occasion.
Customize the Embroidery Design
Embroidery designs can range from intricate floral patterns to abstract motifs or even personalized monograms. Choose something that resonates with you and customize it according to your wardrobe. Ensure the embroidery is well-executed and of high quality. Colors play an important role in any accessory. Choose embroidery designs with vibrant hues for occasions for your bag to stand out. Pastel colors in neutral shades pop out more and will give the embroidery a sleek finish. You can put some motifs or floral contemporary designs to make the art pop out more. When you buy stylish embroidered bags, try to incorporate some of your own elements into them. Sketch out your ideas or create a digital mock-up to visualize the design. Additionally, do look for the size and shape of the designs. If you are a minimalist, choose a smaller design with subtle designs and hues. If you like bold looks, a larger design with intricate details would rock more.
Check Out the Care Instructions
Care instructions are something people often overlook. There might be some specific care instructions for specific embroidery designs. You should choose only the finest quality embroidery and materials for your bags. Though, make sure you are willing to invest the necessary effort to maintain the bag's appearance. You can simply check the care label on the clutches handbags for women to read instructions. Specific care instructions vary depending on the materials used in your embroidered bag. So, choose your bags only from the best quality stores and collections.
Look for Additional Features
Old school designs don’t mean that your bags should also have old constructions. Yes, fewer compartments might seem handy, but it is always better to have spacious bags. Examine the construction of the bag. Check for reinforced stitching, secure closures, or additional compartments. There also are some other features such as sturdy hardware like zippers, clasps, or magnetic snaps. Before you buy stylish embroidered bags for yourself, look if they fulfill your needs first.
Conclusion
Bags are an investment to not only suit your personality but also to cheer you. Embroidery is something that is engraved in history and brings out the beauty of Indian artistry. In the company of an embroidered bag, there is no stopping you from standing out. By following our guide, you can buy stylish embroidered bags that suit your style. There is a wide range of options in terms of style, design, or utility. From intricate floral designs to personalized monograms, there is something for everyone. Remember that the bag you might be wanting is not exactly the bag you would be needing. Make sure to choose one that ticks all the boxes for you.

Tis’ the season to dress to impress! As the holidays approach, it's time to embrace vibrant colors, luxurious fabrics, and fashionable accessories that capture the festive and wintry spirit. From cozy gatherings to glamorous parties, each occasion calls for a unique outfit that showcases your personal style. Whether you opt for a classic little black dress, a chic tailored suit, or a playful holiday sweater, remember to accessorize with flair. Statement jewelry, elegant shoes, and a stylish clutch can elevate any look, making you shine at every event. Embrace the season's trends, mix and match textures, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
This is where your BFF (us, duh!) comes in to make sure you have the best fashion looks while you create unforgettable memories!
👩🏿🎨 Let's start with the color schemes:
As the seasons change, it's the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe with inspiring color schemes that capture the essence of fall and winter. Think warm earth tones, rich jewel hues, and cozy neutrals that not only evoke the beauty of nature during these months but also create stylish, layered looks. Use the color palettes above as a guide to mix and match pieces, from chunky knits to tailored coats, ensuring your outfits are not only chic but also reflective of the season's spirit!
It’s a Cheetah-licious Fall 🐆
Animal prints (done the right way) can add flair and dimension to your looks! This season we want you ladies to experiment with cheetah/leopard prints! Whether it's a boot, jacket or scarf, we encourage you to mix and match these bold patterns with your existing wardrobe. Pair a cheetah print scarf with a solid-colored top for a chic look, or wear leopard print boots with a denim skirt for an edgy vibe. Don't be afraid to layer different prints together; just keep the colors complementary for a stylish effect (see season color schemes above) . Accessories are key, so consider adding a statement bag or bold jewelry to complete your outfit. Embrace your wild side and have fun with these trendy prints!
😻 Fur Trimmed Galore:
Last season, we discussed the importance of elevating your jacket selections (see post here) we mentioned how fur was giving ✨Rich Aunty💰✨ just like the Sherling jacket was highly recommended last season. We urge you to look into ANY clothing item with a fur trimming to elevate your look.
👛 Meet Tweed, Plaid’s Rich Bougie Sister:
As the crisp air of fall and winter settles in, tweed clothing emerges as the quintessential choice for those seeking both warmth and sophistication. This elevated plaid fabric, with its rich textures and intricate patterns, effortlessly elevates any ensemble, making it a staple for the season. Tweed’s timeless elegance not only provides comfort against the chill but also adds a touch of refinement to your wardrobe, whether you’re dressing for a cozy gathering or a formal event. Embrace the allure of tweed this season and step out in style, showcasing a look that is both classic and contemporary.
👢Soft Girl Suede:
This winter, let’s embrace the cozy charm of the "soft girl suede" look – it’s the perfect blend of comfort and style that will make you feel effortlessly chic! Imagine stepping out in those stunning suede high boots paired with an oversized shirt and a flirty skirt, topped off with some chic gloves to keep you warm. Suede not only looks fabulous, but it also adds a luxurious touch to any outfit, making it a must-have for the season. So let’s elevate our wardrobe and wrap ourselves in the soft, dreamy textures of suede – trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this trend!
🥋 The Power of a Belt:
A little beltology is needed this season. Point number one: do not underestimate the power of adding a belt to your look. Whether it’s a simple leather belt to add on to your trousers or a glamorous statement belt to put over your blazers or dresses, please get your belt game up! If you can splurge on a designer belt this season. This will add a little extra touch to your outfits! Accessories are a must so have fun and don’t overthink it 😉
🪢 Dare to Mix and Match Fabrics?
As we embrace the cozy charm of fall and winter, let’s elevate our layering game by mixing fabrics for a stylish twist! Imagine the warmth of a chunky knit sweater paired with the sleek elegance of a silk blouse, or the rugged appeal of a denim jacket layered over a soft cashmere turtleneck. Mixing textures not only adds depth and interest to our outfits but also allows us to play with colors and patterns in exciting new ways. This season, let's break free from the ordinary and create unique looks that reflect our individual styles. So, gather your favorite pieces, experiment with combinations, and watch how effortlessly chic our ensembles become—because layering isn’t just about warmth; it’s about making a statement!
👔 Layering with Corsets:
As the chill sets in and our wardrobes start to cozy up, it’s the perfect time to add a little flair to those capsule favorites! 🤎 This fall and winter, let’s take our style game to the next level by layering corsets over our beloved staples like a crisp white button-up, a chic long-sleeve dress, or even that classic blazer jacket!
Imagine the magic: a structured corset adds a touch of sophistication and a hint of edge, transforming your everyday looks into stunning outfits that turn heads! 🤩 Whether you’re heading to brunch, a night out, or just want to feel fabulous while running errands, this layering trick is a must-try!
🎨Colorful Monochromatics:
As we embrace the cozy vibes of fall and winter, why not add a splash of fun to our wardrobes? This season, let’s say goodbye to the dull and hello to colorful monochromatic looks that are not only stunning but super easy to pull off!
Imagine stepping out in a chic matching set or coordinating pieces that make you feel like a fashionista without the fuss. ✨ The best part? You can choose one or two pops of color from the fabulous color schemes above and effortlessly build outfits that turn heads! 💥
Whether you’re vibing with warm earth tones or cool hues, monochromatic looks can totally work with our core colors too! So, let’s mix and match, layer it up, and have fun with our outfits this season.

Honey {e.s}
Egon Spengler x f!Reader
this is my first time writing anything for the ghostbusters! so it'll probably suck :) gif not mine
The wind tickled your face as you walked to work clutching a box of doughnuts and holding a tray of coffee. The click of your heeled boots faded into the morning sounds of the city. You worked with the ghostbusters helping Janine out with phone calls and paperwork. You were the one who kept the cabinets and fridge stocked at the station. As you walked in you could hear the music coming from Ray’s radio, the shuffling of Janine’s paperwork, and the sound of Egon tinkering with his pack.
“I have arrived with coffee and donuts my darlings” you call out as you use your foot to shut the door. There was now a shuffle of footsteps heading for you and yells of excitement.
Janine took the box of doughnuts from your arms as you handed them each their specific coffee.
“You are truly an angel amongst this lot” Peter praises accepting his coffee. You laugh rolling your eyes at his antics. Winston patted your shoulder as he sipped his coffee.
“You get it right every time” He smiles at you. Ray gives you his usual good morning hug taking the hot cup from your gloved hands. Janine is grateful to accept the drink before the phone begins to ring. You grab Egon’s favorite doughnut from the box and his coffee heading for his lab.
“I have your breakfast Dr. Spengler” you announce entering the lab. Little did you know Egon would get flustered each time you called him by his title. You were the type of person that called people pet names when you truly care for them. Whenever you call him ‘honey’ he melts, but you don’t know that. Seeing you in a stylish yet warm outfit with a bright smile on your face holding food for him made him feel something he couldn’t describe.
“How many times must I tell you calling me Egon is fine” he jests taking the doughnut and coffee from you.
“As many times as it takes for me to get it right honey. Enjoy your food I’ll be back shortly” you disappear into the station to go about your daily tasks. After a few hours of tackling your more demanding tasks you decide to check the pantry and fridge taking note of everything they need. Asking everyone to pick their own personal snacks. As you head out you pop into the lab after softly knocking to alert Egon of your presence.
“Honey, I’m going to get some groceries for the kitchen. Do you need anything while I’m out?” asking as you stroll over to his desk with your pen and notepad. “I already put a box of Cheez-It’s on the list for you. I saw that you were low” you add.
“I think that’s all then. Are you going alone?” he asks as you get ready to walk away.
“Yup, I’m going to walk there, shouldn’t be too bad” replying with a light shrug, at that he stood up discarding his lab coat, replacing it with his suit jacket. “Egon, honey I can go alone” you try to convince him.
“I’m overdue for a break anyways. I can carry the bags for you.” He places aa hand on the small of your back walking you out the lab. You receive curious looks from the rest of the team.
“We’ll be back darlings!” you inform them, before realizing you left your purse in the kitchen. “I have to go grab my purse. I’ll be right back hon” Peter had a shit-eating grin on his face looking at Egon. Janine was giggling trying to cover it up with her magazine. Ray and Winston just looked smug.
“You got it bad Spengs” Peter grinned at his friend.
“Almost as bad as she has it” Winston adds.
“Just ask her out, I promise she wouldn’t say no” Ray says popping a cigarette between his lips. Janine makes a noise of agreement as you return to the room.
“Come on honey let’s go” you grab Egon’s large hand lightly pulling him out the station.
“Take your time honey! We’ll miss you” Peter hollers behind you two as the door closes. You expect Egon to let go of your hand as you exited the station, but his grip tightened instead. Holding you closer through the crowd as he leads you both to the store. Grabbing a buggy once you arrive he offers to push it as you collect everything on the list. Just taking the store aisle by aisle since Peter said take your time, you’ll use it to your advantage. You added some groceries you needed for your apartment as well. As you searched for the items needed, Egon just admired you. He helped you when you needed to get things from a higher shelf. That’s when you took your turn to admire him. Winston wasn’t wrong that you had it bad for Egon. How could you not? You may not be into science as much as he does, but you loved to hear him talk about his findings and his interests. You would let him talk to you about anything, and he even listened when you would talk about your interests. He never made you feel like you were less intelligent, he thought you were brilliant and provided stimulating conversation. As you tried to reach a box of your favorite cereal, Egon chuckled watching your attempt before reaching right past you to grab it.
“You two look like such a sweet couple” a pair of elderly ladies gushed. Instead of ruining their vision you flash them a sparkling smile, wrapping your arms around his waist.
“Thank you so much! He’s the absolute sweetest, just like honey” you gush looking up at him for a moment before looking back at the ladies.
“I bet he is. You two enjoy yourselves. Love is a wonderful thing” the shorter of the ladies say grabbing the taller one’s hand looking at her like she hung the stars in the sky.
“Have a wonderful day lovelies!” you wished them as they headed past you. You haven’t let go of Egon yet. His hand rested on your waist keeping you between him and the buggy. He only let you go to grab the items on the list until it was time to pay. Once everything was bagged and paid for he took hold of your hand as you walked back to the station. He’s been quiet since the conversation with the ladies, but not in an uncomfortable way. More like the gears were turning in his brain trying to figure out what to say. When the fire station was in sight he began walking faster pulling you along to keep up with his long strides. A chorus of ‘hello’s or welcome back’ rang through the station, but he was on a mission, so your ‘hi darlings’ trailed off quickly. Placing the bags he carried on the counter he gestured for you to do the same. However, he stopped you from putting away the groceries.
“What’s wrong honey?” you asked concerned, you haven’t seen him look this flustered since you gave him a hug for the first time.
“Why didn’t you correct the ladies in the store?” he asked as he started pacing around the kitchen.
“They looked so precious Egon. The way they looked at us. I couldn’t tell them otherwise. Besides why would I want to disagree with them?” you rhetorically asked. Pausing in his pacing, he stares at you like you said something crazy. “Don’t give me that look Spengler” you huffed leaning against the counter, crossing your arms looking away from him.
“You wouldn’t mind being seen with me?” he asked in a low tone. It was your turn to look at him crazy.
“Are you kidding?” you pause taking in the look on his face, he was genuinely asking. “Egon, honey why would I ever mind being seen with you? It is an absolute honor in my eyes to be seen with you” you reach for his hands. “How are you so smart, yet so oblivious?”
“I am not oblivious” he retorts with a pout.
“Egon, I love you but you’re oblivious. How upfront do I need to be to get you to understand?” you ask gazing into his warm eyes. You let his hands go breaking the moment. “I’ll start putting the groceries away, we can continue this later” turning away quickly dismissing your admission. Despite what you were trying to do, Egon had different plans. He gently grabs your hand turning you around pinning you between his body and the counter.
“Can you say it again?” his tone was almost desperate, as if he didn’t believe you could possibly feel that way for him.
“I love you” your voice was soft, but your tone was firm which left no room for arguing. Throwing your arms around his neck you pull him down for a kiss catching him by surprise. One of his hands stays gripping the counter behind you as the other holds your bodies close together. His lips were quick to match the rhythm of yours, he pulls back your noses touching.
“ I love you too by the way” he breathlessly chuckles.
“I would hope so with a kiss like that Dr. Spengler” you tease.
“I quite enjoy when you call me doctor” his grip tightened on your waist.
“Okay lovers no making little science babies in the kitchen” Peter interrupts before Egon has the chance to kiss you again.
“I’ll just take Dr. Spengler home then Venkman. We’ll see you tomorrow darlings” you grab Egon’s hand dragging him out the station. “Also whoever puts the groceries away for me gets a home cooked meal of their choice” you shout back into the station before shutting the door. Egon had a goofy grin on his face as you dragged him through the busy sidewalk.

STIR AND MIX!
pairing: kokomi teruhashi x gn!reader
synopsis: an unexpected invite from your friend has you hurrying to her house--only to find an anxious looking kokomi behind the island counter, hands preoccupied with a bowl and a whisk.
content: (wc: 1.7k) teruhashi stresses over saiki, reader stresses over kokomi. unrequited love (wooomp). some fun (+lovey) kitchen shenanigans despite the angst.
a/n: i've had this idea sitting in my drive for a while now and i thought it'd be fitting for valentines day...does any1 write 4 my girl...
You receive an apologetic text from Kokomi early Tuesday evening asking if you were able to drop by her house.
You look up from your phone and out your window toward the daylight; the sun sets a little later in the sky than it had for the past three or so months, and you had finished most of your schoolwork and extracurriculars for the day, so you saw no harm in the visit. Replying to Kokomi to hang tight for fifteen minutes, you dressed yourself and headed for her house.
There was a somewhat urgent undertone in the text, despite her typical politeness and enthusiasm that was present even in her phone messages. It was a school night as well, which made the sudden invitation all the more unusual.
Nonetheless, you reveled in the February breeze as you promptly headed to the Teruhashi residence. Every step, every turn, was taken with enough familiarity to be mindless, able to allow your thoughts to drift and mull over the possible reasons Kokomi would want (perhaps need) you over, but came up short.
Though you’ve walked Kokomi home from school plenty of times, you’ve only ever been inside her house on a handful of occasions. You admired its stylish exterior, as you always do, as you climbed the porch, eyes darting around to take in the garden and the wood and glass patterns that made up the structure.
Kokomi had followed up her initial text with instructions to locate and use the spare key kept beneath a garden statue just by the front door. Her parents tended to work late, and her brother was out of the country for work, so she was managing the house by herself. Perhaps she had been facing some difficulties living alone, and needed a friend to help her out.
The lockset clicks and, turning the knob, you hesitantly push the door open. Upon taking your first step inside, your nose takes in a heavenly aroma. It’s a comforting, familiar smell that makes your mouth water.
“Kokomi?” You call out her name at the front door as you step inside, trying to place exactly what was wafted in the air as you slipped off your shoes and placed them off to the side in the genkan.
A high, feminine voice calls out your name in questioning from a little further into the house, and what follows is a heavy thud!
You quickly follow the noise, rounding a corner and peering to the right, only to be completely taken aback by what you find. The countertops are crowded with various sized and colorful bowls and bags, raw ingredients to some kind of crazed baking session spilled out in random spots. Kokomi herself stands in the middle of the kitchen, as if to handle accordingly any sort of problems that arise.
“Kokomi?” You call out again as you take in the mess, and the girl in question turns around in surprise, revealing a bowl clutched tightly to her chest in one arm while the other hand frantically whisks the mixture inside. She seems to deflate a little in relief when her eyes settle onto you.
“You’re here! I’m so sorry to call you out here so suddenly, I just--”
She frantically tried to gather her thoughts into a coherent explanation as she placed the bowl on the counter beside her. “I’ve been quite busy baking all these desserts, and I could use some help finishing up…” she eventually explains somewhat bashfully.
Your eyes fall onto a stack of small, sleek, white boxes, each secured by a pink ribbon tied neatly down the middle on the counter right across the island.
“What is all this for?”
The timer on the stove goes off the minute the question leaves your lips, and Kokomi quickly turns around with a little oh! before hurrying over to turn it off.
“Don’t you know what tomorrow is?” she asks over her shoulder as she crouches down to pull open the oven and out a metal tray. She stares down at them with a little proud huff before extending them out toward you; perfectly sculpted red velvet cookies, all evenly spaced and baked to perfection.
“It’s Valentine’s Day!”
How you somehow managed to forget was a mystery. The day has been the talk of your school for the past week, with students wondering if they would be so lucky as to receive chocolates and love letters in the cubbies of their lockers when the day finally came. Excitement was an understatement for the kids at PK Academy when it came to the holiday of love.
Talk about receiving gifts from Kokomi, especially, lingered in these conversations, each person hoping to personally receive a Valentine's Day present from the perfect pretty girl herself. And, of course, Kokomi would deliver--literally.
“How long have you been baking?” You ask her with a small laugh of surprise as you take in the perfect cookies, tempted by the aroma to snatch one up for yourself.
“Oh, I don’t even know…since this morning?”
“That long?”
"I only have a couple more batches to go through! But it really is taking me a while to get through, so I thought I'd invite you over! I hope...that's okay?"
And you want to curse yourself when your heart flips, when it sings of course it's okay. You wish you could say you were above the charms she was able to put people under simply by existing in their vicinity, but her heart was big, and she was putting in all of this effort. How could you say anything but okay?
And so you give her a determined smile, and ask what you are needed to do.
She demonstrates how to measure the ingredients, what techniques and combination of flavours and coloring help enhance the overall presentation of her desserts. Flour spills all over your aprons when you accidentally tip the bag over, and you can only stare at each other in horror and surprise for a moment before the day catches up with you, and you can only laugh at the absurdity.
She takes your powered hands in hers and presses them down against the cookie cutters, shows you how to carefully peel away the excess dough, and again you curse when you can hardly bring your attention away from the feeling of her skin against yours. She laughs a little when you fumble with the first couple of shapes, still trying to ground yourself from the trance, before staring impressively at the various balls and hearts.
It seems that you blink and you can suddenly see the moon shine bright in the night sky outside the kitchen window. By the time the final tray of cookies are placed in the oven, your arms and lower back ache and your stomach turns from the handful of chocolate chips and other cakes you tried mid session.
Kokomi sits at the dining table packaging a box with a particular amount of care; laying out pink tissue paper within the box for cookies and cupcakes to sit on, with a simple white envelope accompanying the treats inside. You watch her hands work precisely as she ties the pale pink ribbon around the box.
"Which one is that for?"
“This one's for Saiki!" she says as she finishes tightening the bow, a small smile lifting her cheeks. "I remember when we went out that one time, he seemed really into the desserts at this café we visited, so I went a couple of times and tried to emulate the recipes and—“
Her words quickly came to a halt, and she stares blankly at you for a moment before her expression turns into one of alarm, and she scrambles her words.
“But it’s not like they’re extra special or anything!” she stuttered out with a nervous laugh, quickly trying to compensate for the fondness in her voice. “I mean, I looked into what everyone seems to like. Chiyo told me that Kaidou likes these cakes, and Nendou has been eating these sweets as of late, so, you know! They’re all tailored to each classmate!”
But Kaidou’s or Nendou’s boxes don’t have envelopes coupled with their treats, nor do they have pretty pink packaging, nor does Kokomi speak about them with the same amount of sweetness her treats hold.
The most you know about Kusuo Saiki was that he was a quiet guy in your homeroom. His aloofness infatuated Kokomi, his attitude toward her a stark contrast to the regular reactions she's been able to invoke from men and women alike.
Ever since failing to break that stoic character of his, however, she's been relentless in her efforts to reduce him to the same awed state she manages to reduce everyone else around her to. Somewhere along the way, she found her heart fluttering around him the same way yours does around her.
“What if he doesn’t like them...?”
Her face suddenly falls, and you can't remember if you let slip a doubtful comment or look toward her defensive reaction. Whatever had happened, your brows turned upward sympathetically.
“I'm sure he'll love them.”
“Do you think they’ll free his shy little heart?”
“Uh…well…that I don’t know…”
She groans as she buries her face in her hands in irritation. This was just the kind of reaction he often invoked from her, and even so, her face still tinted the color of the ribbon between her fingers, the determined fire in her eyes only burning brighter.
"Just you wait, Saiki...you'll be completely blown away by my treats!"
And suddenly she's squealing, and it's not directed toward you, but you smile along with her anyway, because she's content and worked so hard that it feels criminal not to bask in her satisfied glow.
Saiki was as much of an enigma to you as he was to anyone else. Would he reject the treats? Would he happily enjoy every last bite?
You hoped at the very least he would accept the box, with Kokomi's love and hard work presented in the things he loves most. At least take it home, at least have a bite of the cake she worked meticulously to perfect. Make her laugh that same way again. You think back on it on your walk home, and it's enough to satisfy your own heart, even if she'll never accept it in the way Saiki doesn't accept hers.
wondering what our hearts will bring...
back to masterlist.

Would love your take on kates authenticity plant please. It was discussed on a UK show a few weeks back and authentic was the word I kept hearing. The host had kids in Thomas's when the then Cambridges went and everyone loved kate there
Oh boy, this is where I lose the Kate stans.
Let me preface this by making two points. First, I wasn’t always a Kate fan. I thought she behaved very well during the courtship (particularly during the breakup) and I loved the wedding (particularly the Halo tiara), but I was disappointed during the first years of the marriage when they weren’t working full time, and she seemed to be hopping from project to project haphazardly. That was not what I expected from a woman who had graduated college, who seemed to have a serious interest in photography and art history, and who had handled the intense press scrutiny of her dating years with dignity and effectiveness. I was very critical of her at this point.
And so were others. I don’t think Kate was perceived as “authentic” back then, as evidenced by the brutal Hilary Mantel essay that compared her to a mannequin and the reaction to her National Gallery portrait. The woman in the portrait was mature, self-assured and professional, and that was simply not the image Kate was projecting at that time.
But it is the image she’s projecting NOW. This Princess of Wales we are seeing now with the professional suits, ambitious projects, polished family image, and artistic patronages is what I expected to see from the disciplined, family-oriented, savvy St. Andrew’s graduate who married Prince William. I think this is the authentic Kate, finally growing into her role. It’s amazing to me that the artist captured that so perfectly way back then.
And I think that’s why she is getting the (well-deserved) accolades now. The post-2011 fairy-tale princess in bouncy curls, stiff coatdresses and matchy-matchy clutches never seemed quite real, but the post-2021 princess in boot-cut slacks (so like her college jeans) and pussy-bow blouses (just like in her portrait) with her tote bag and Starbucks cup seems very real. This Kate—with her Norfolk country house, Range Rover public school runs, cozy family pics, and adorably unruly youngest son—is exactly what we thought she would be.
She’s the same Kate we saw from 2004-2011. She’s family-oriented, disciplined, self-controlled, discreet, stylish, and reserved, and she doesn’t pretend to be anything else. She likes the country, photography, skiing, and tennis, and those are interest she has genuinely held for decades. She sticks by her family and supports her siblings. She still wears the same Penelope Childers boots. She still skies in the same French resort with her family. She has had the same nanny for more than a decade. She wears the same designers. The only deviations I have seen in my years of royal watching is that Mustique is not a preferred beach vacation spot anymore (I guess because the in-laws have their own resort) and there have been a distressing lack of Kiki purchases lately. Otherwise, she has stayed true to type.
Now, that’s real authenticity.

Suit Shopping pt. 2
Part 2 of this
A/N: Kinda to the short side but still
Words: 1277
TW: None, I think. It's all pretty fluffy. Lmk if I missed smth
The tension crackles in the air as the Batfamily stands awkwardly before Dick in the grand foyer of Wayne Manor. Two days since their mall adventure, the moment of truth arrives. Cass and Duke hold a large garment bag proudly between them, while Steph, Jason, Tim, and Damian each clutch separate bags, their faces etched with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.
Dick, in a simple t-shirt and jeans, stands in the center, a hesitant smile plastered on his face. "Alright, alright," he chuckles, trying to lighten the mood. "Let's see what you amazing people have come up with for my wedding suit."
Steph, ever the impulsive one, can't contain her excitement. "We'll go first!" she declares, darting forward before anyone else can react. With a dramatic flourish, she yanks the garment bag open, revealing a suit that can only be described as... exuberant. A vibrant purple screams royalty in the wrong carnival. Sequins shimmer across the fabric, catching the light like a disco ball in a bad dream. Tiny, glittery bat wings sprout from the shoulders, adding an extra layer of questionable taste.
Dick coughs, trying to hide a wince. "Uh, Steph... it's certainly... unique."
"Wait—" Jason jumps away from the suit. "That's not the suit we bought!"
Steph's smile falters slightly, but she recovers quickly. "Exactly! Now Dick will be the most dazzling groom Gotham has ever seen!"
"But— What'd you do to our suit?!" Jason scoffs, betrayal clear in his eyes. "Blondie, you are expelled from Dead Robins Club."
Tim, unable to hold back a snort, steps forward. He unzips his bag with a flourish, revealing a sleek, black suit. Red accents run down the sides, and a subtle bat symbol is embroidered on the chest. It's a classic, cool design, a clear nod to Dick's Nightwing persona.
"This is more your style, right?" Tim asks, raising an eyebrow.
Dick nods, a genuine smile breaking out this time. "Definitely a contender."
Damian, ever practical, approaches next. He reveals a simple, tailored blue suit. It's elegant and well-made, the kind Bruce might wear on a more formal business occasion. "This is a timeless classic," Damian states, his voice devoid of his usual sarcasm. "It would be appropriate for any setting."
Jason, ever the drama king, scoffs. "Please, Demon brat. Dickwing deserves something more... modern. Wait one sec while I find what Blondie here has done to the suit he picked." He runs upstairs quickly, then comes back with a bag, showcasing a suit that looks like it belongs on the set of a futuristic space opera. It's a Nightwing blue, with metallic silver accents that seem to glow in the dim light.
Dick whistles. "Wow, Little Wing. Record time for that run."
Damian humphs. "But mine is more practical. Durable enough for any rogue attack, yet stylish enough to turn heads."
Last but not least, Duke and Cass step forward, holding their mysterious bag together. "We designed a suit based on your Nightwing colors," Duke explains. He carefully unzips the bag, and Cass pulls out a suit that leaves Dick speechless.
It's a masterpiece. Made from a midnight blue fabric that shimmers with a subtle sheen, the suit incorporates sleek black accents that run along the sides and down the arms. Designs of a starry night, intricate and beautiful, run across the entire fabric. But the true genius is in the details - a subtle hidden compartment on the arm for Dick's communicators, a flexible construction that allows for ease of movement, and a subtle lining that feels light and cool against the skin.
Dick stares at the suit, a wave of emotion washing over him. It's perfect. More than just a suit, it's a symbol of his journey, a blend of his past and future.
"Wow," Dick finally breathes. "This... this is incredible. Thank you, guys." He looks at each of his siblings, his heart full of gratitude. "Every single one of you came up with something amazing. I honestly can't choose."
Then his eyes light up. "I know! I'll call Wally! Everyone get out of the room, him and I will choose, then I'll announce which suit I'm picking."
A collective groan rises from the bats.
"Seriously, Dick?" Tim grumbles, already turning towards the exit. "You're letting your fiance be the tiebreaker?”
"Hey!" A voice called from the doorway before they can escape. Wally West, the Flash, in standing there, a mischievous grin plastered on his face. "I got your text. What's the big decision?"
Dick sheepishly explains the situation, gesturing to the remaining garment bags. Wally whistled, his grin widening.
"Alright, alright," Wally says, holding up his hands. "Let's see what we're working with." He darts around the room, examining each suit with the practiced eye of a seasoned shopper – or maybe a seasoned costume designer, considering his own flashy getup.
Steph puffs out her chest as he reaches her mangled creation. "So, what do you think? Pretty dazzling, right?"
Wally's eyes widen comically. "Uh, Steph, that's… Not gonna lie, certainly a statement piece. Take this from the guy people say used to be dressed like mustard."
He moves on, offering polite praise for Tim’s practical design, a raised eyebrow at Damian’s classic choice, and a snort at Jason’s space opera-inspired suit. Finally, he reaches Duke and Cass' masterpiece.
He falls silent for a moment, examining the suit with a thoughtful frown. Then, a slow smile spreads across his face.
"Wow, this is incredible," He breathes, tracing the intricate starry night design. "It's perfect, Dick. It's you, it's Nightwing, it's everything. You’re gonna look so hot."
Dick grins, a blush washing over him. "You really think so?"
Wally winks. "Absolutely. Besides, can you imagine Bruce's face if you showed up in a sparkly purple suit with bat wings?"
The room erupts in laughter, the tension dissolving almost completely. Dick claps his hands, gathering everyone's attention.
"Alright, alright," He announces. "Looks like we have a winner. Thanks to everyone for putting so much thought into this. It means a lot."
He gestures towards Duke and Cass. "And for the two of you… seriously, amazing work. This suit is incredible."
Cass gives a small, satisfied nod, while Duke beams. The rest of the Batfamily offers their congratulations, the competitive spirit replaced by genuine camaraderie, though a few glares are exchanged.
"So," Wally says, slinging an arm around Dick's shoulder and pressing a chaste kiss on his cheek. "Ready to pick out a wedding band that's just as awesome?”
Dick chuckles. "Maybe we can skip the family vote on that one."
.
.
.
As soon as Dick and Wally speed out of the room, Jason, Steph, Tim, and Damian turn to Duke and Cass, glaring.
The pair in question only wear a smug grin. Cass holds out her palm, and Duke teases, “Pay your debt, losers.”
Grumbling, Jason presses a fifty-dollar bill into Cass’s hand, glaring daggers at the two. “I used to like you two. No more pancakes for you, and no showing up uninvited at my apartment. Got that?”
Duke’s grin only falters slightly— no pancakes?— but Cass steps on Jason’s foot before he storms off with an “OW!” to make it even.
Tim pays his loser’s fee with only a slight frown, probably too sleep-deprived to care. Steph tries to give Cass a kiss instead of money, but Cass is too headstrong to fall for that.
Damian huffs and promised Duke he’d get revenge, in the most haughty and powerful voice a pre-teen could possibly muster. Duke tries so hard not to laugh, but fails, leaving the baby demon to stomp out of the room.
This competition was perfect. Duke knew they’d win.

Bitter Sweet - Ch. 1 Miguel O’hara x F!Reader
Ao3 Part 2
It was the end of your summer vacation. You watched the city pass by through the window, with the sun slowly rising above the tall urban roofs. Overpriced earbuds were nestled in each ear, and your phone rested in your lap, playing a slow trap tune whose instrumentals tugged at your heartstrings. Glancing down at your phone, it read 07:45. In fifteen minutes, you would be late once again.
You stood up before the announcer even had a chance to call out your stop; by now you were familiar enough with the route that you didn’t need to hear it. Walking over to the train doors you caught a glimpse of yourself in the reflection of the window. Worn sneakers, rings on two of your fingers and a word bracelet on the same hand. Slightly ripped jeans paired with a stylish cropped sweater and your backpack nonchalantly slung over one shoulder. Plain yet fashionable, that was you.
The train took a turn slightly harder than usual, causing you to grab hold of one of the railings next to your head. As you glanced up, you saw a couple smiling at you and then at each other. The guy instinctively wrapped a protective arm around his girlfriend, who shyly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Feeling slightly nauseated, you quickly averted your gaze, keeping your eyes fixed on the floor.
Glancing down at your hand, you caught a glimpse of the friendship bracelet adorning your wrist, its inscription of "Best" visible. Frowning, you swiftly pulled your sleeve down to conceal it. Having mustered up enough courage, you had decided it was time to take a leap of faith and confess your feelings to your childhood best friend—no, not just your best friend, but your childhood crush. This person whom you had shared countless moments of pain, humor, and joy with, someone you had kept at arm's length out of fear of losing them while longing to express your true emotions. Each time he smiled, it brought you unparalleled happiness, as if a surge of serotonin coursed through your veins. You were in love with him—your best friend; Peter Parker.
However, the universe had different plans. On your way to his place, climbing the stairs to his front door, he swung it open with an exuberant smile spread across his face. His eyes sparkled with a joy you had never seen before. He enveloped you in a warm embrace, spinning you around as your heart raced within your chest. Placing you back on the ground, he grasped your shoulders, ready to share his own confession—only, it wasn't the one you had anticipated.
He revealed that he had finally expressed his feelings to M.J that summer, and she had reciprocated them. It was a classic teen love story, but with a twist—no broken hearts. As you stood there, frozen, tears and pain welled up inside you, caught in your throat. You summoned all your strength to hold back the overwhelming emotions, finally releasing a gasping breath. With trembling hands, you gripped his shoulders tightly and pulled him into a heartfelt hug, a blend of tears and laughter escaping from you. The two of you stood there, clinging to one another as time seemed to stand still, before he gently nudged you away, concern etched on his face.
‘’Don't. Just... just a little longer. I'm not ready to let go yet.’’ You pleaded to yourself.
He pulled back, a radiant smile illuminating his face. "Oh wow! Are those happy tears for me? You're such a dork, y/n! But you're one hell of a friend. Thank you." Sniffing, you wiped your nose and averted your gaze with a self-conscious laugh. "I love you, Peter," you confessed. His laughter filled the air as he gazed at you affectionately. "I love you too, y/n. You're the bestest friend anyone could ask for." A smile adorned your face—it was all you could manage.
The doors opened, and you stepped out briskly, your hands clutching the strap of your bag, eyes fixed on the ground.
Life goes on; that's just the way it is. Right?
Math, Literature and white washed History.
Aaaah~ Gotta love Thursdays. You sarcastically thought to yourself.
Lunch had just ended, and you found yourself sitting in your Spanish class, absentmindedly doodling on your notes. They never turned out as good as you had envisioned, but you didn’t really mind. As your teacher entered the room, greeting everyone in Spanish, you responded with a half-hearted mumble, not bothering to look up from your notes.
"Alright, estudiantes! Take a seat, pens down, and eyes up! Date prisa ahora!" Mr. Torres, your Spanish teacher, cheered, clapping his hands. He was always full of energy but could be strict when necessary.
"As some of you may have... HEY! Everyone, pay attention, por favor!" Mr. Torres interrupted himself, commanding the room's focus. "As you may have noticed, this semester our classes are mixed. Due to being understaffed, we have combined this year's and next year's students. From now on, we will all be having one big class instead of two, so make sure to remember this. I don't want to see any empty chairs in my class and then have you show up tomorrow all confused. ¿Entender?"
You glanced around the room curiously, and sure enough, there were a few new faces present. Although they blended in seamlessly, being just a year or two older than you. There was a new student with an awkward yet intriguing face, boasting big doe eyes. Another guy possessed flowing blonde hair, exuding an undeniable main character aura. A tall and slender individual appeared disinterestedly fixated on the view outside the window, while a British exchange student rocked wicked hair and emitted a genuine punk rock vibe.
Mr. Torres began swiftly reading through a list of names, and you despised how it made you feel anxious, as if you didn't do this routine daily. All you had to do was say "here." Seeking a distraction, your eyes just happened to land on the British guy. He stood tall, with attractive piercings adorning his face—one through each eyebrow, one through his nose, and one on the right side of his bottom lip.
"Hobie?" Mr. Torres called out.
"Over Here," he replied while saluting the teacher with two fingers.
You stared as he ran his teeth over his lip, seemingly entranced. The corner of his mouth curled into a smirk, and as you followed its path, your gaze locked with his. He had caught you staring and winked at you, causing you to tense up. Swiftly averting your eyes, you turned your head towards another new face—this time, an awkward yet somewhat handsome guy. He sported short black hair and brown, almost golden eyes, dressed in a modern urban style.
"Miles Morales?" Mr. Torres inquired.
"Estoy aquí, profesor," the guy you were looking at enthusiastically responded.
"Muy bueno, Mr. Morales!" Mr. Torres chirped, causing a few students to giggle among themselves.
You glanced over at the guy who had captured the attention of several girls in the class. Admittedly, he was quite muscular. While not particularly tall, his physique showcased an impressive amount of muscle, flaunted by his choice of clothing. If someone put in the effort to attain such low body fat and muscular definition, more power to them. However, based on his demeanor and speech, it seemed like he could have used some of that time to read a book or, perhaps, develop a few more brain cells.
"Ben Reilly?" Mr. Torres called out, scanning the room.
"I am here, but my friends call me Scarlet Kid~," he replied, and you visibly cringed.
"Veo... However, I will not," Mr. Torres responded. Laughter erupted in the classroom, and you joined in. There was no way this guy was older than you—how had he managed to survive school this long? Come to think of it, with his physique, who would openly dare to bully him? Despite his slight cringiness, he seemed nice enough, prompting you to simply shake your head.
Finally, you turned to your left, and your gaze fell upon a tall and slender-looking guy. He rested his chin on his hand, seemingly uninterested as he stared out the window. He was probably the tallest person there. His tan complexion and chiseled features resembled that of an ancient Roman sculpture.
"Miss y/n," the teacher called.
You noticed how he predominantly wore baggy clothing and, notably, how large his shoes were. Glancing back, you realized he was staring at you with an expression that seemed somewhere between boredom and annoyance. You quickly averted your gaze, only to find everyone's eyes fixed on you. Panic washed over you as your eyes darted to the teacher, who was also looking at you expectantly, but with an amused smile on his face.
"Buenos días, señorita y/n," Mr. Torres joked.
"Yes, here, I mean... ¡buen día!" you blurted out. Once again, a few students chuckled, and you felt a pang of embarrassment inside.
"And finally, Mr. O'Hara?" Mr. Torres continued.
"Sí, estoy aquí, perdiendo el tiempo," he responded, not bothering to shift his gaze away from the window. Judging by his accent, he was undoubtedly fluent. Another student, Miles, gasped softly. He must have said something rude?
"¿Perdiendo el tiempo? ¿Crees que aprender es perder el tiempo?" Your teacher questioned, hands on his hips, wearing an offended expression.
The new guy turned his head towards Mr. Torres, his eyebrows furrowed and his mouth drawn into a tight line—though upon closer inspection, that might just have been his usual expression. "When I speak the language? Yes. There is nothing for me to learn here. I am not like the rest of these kids."
"Hey! Hablo español, mi madre es puertorriqueña!" Miles objected.
The guy let out a dry laugh and shook his head. "And she doesn't whoop you upside your head when you speak with such an abhorrent accent? Mujer paciente." Miles abruptly stood up, not as if he was about to throw hands, but rather to point an accusing finger at him. "Don't insult my mother, man!" The guy turned to Miles and snarled, "I was complimenting her! You'd know that if you could speak
Spanish!" Miles let out a small "Oh..." before sitting back down, while Mr. Torres stormed over and stood between the two."¡Suficiente! Mr. O'Hara, it is very unfortunate that you feel that way. Hopefully, you don't feel the same way about detention. Two hours after class," Mr. Torres declared. The man simply sighed, choosing to continue gazing out the window with a bored expression.
The class continued at a rapid pace, and you found yourself more focused on the new faces than actually listening. As the bell rang and you began packing your backpack, Mr. Torres called you over. You watched as everyone else, except for the student with detention, left the classroom. Making your way to your teacher, he flashed you a tired smile.
"Y/n, I like you. You're a good student, and I know you can do better than this," he said, holding out a blank piece of paper. Puzzled, you glanced up at him. "There's nothing... on that paper?"
"Exactly. This was homework you were supposed to do during the summer, part of a test you missed yesterday. What gives, y/n?" You wanted to turn around and leave, but you knew nothing good would come out of that. You had managed to go the whole day without dwelling on the heartbreak you experienced, but in doing so, you neglected many of your classes and even skipped a day altogether. "I, uh... I'm sorry, Mr. Torres. I'll do better, promise."
He removed his glasses and placed them on the desk in front of him with a sigh, looking up at you. However, his attention seemed to shift behind you. His eyes darted between you and something behind you, but when you turned around, all you saw was the rowdy student with the same bored expression. "I want to believe that, y/n. Are you telling me you promise to set aside one hour a week just for Spanish?"
You nodded, and he clapped his hands in excitement, causing you to flinch. "Perfect! Ven conmigo. Come!" You followed your teacher and ended up stopping in front of the new student's desk. He looked up with the same bored expression. Mr. Torres grabbed you by the shoulders and positioned you in front of the student. "This is y/n, and you're going to stay after class for an hour to tutor her. Starting today and until the end of the term."
"What?!" both you and the student exclaimed loudly. Correcting your posture, Mr. Torres made you turn toward the student again. "Either that, or I write you up for attempting to start a fight in the middle of class. For a student aiming for an Alchemax sponsorship, that would be detrimental." Your teacher held up a hand to the student, who appeared visibly frustrated, interrupting what he was about to say. "Before you think I hate you and I'm out to get you, it's my job, Miguel. I should be writing you up, but instead, I'm offering you this. It's one hour a week, and it will benefit both of you."
You stood there awkwardly, staring at Miguel. His chest heaved slightly, and his gaze made you want to squirm away. Finally, he growled and let out a frustrated "¡De acuerdo!"
"Excellent!’’ Mr. Torres exclaimed, ‘’ Sit down here, y/n." The teacher pulled up a chair opposite Miguel and guided you to sit down. You felt stunned and incredibly uncomfortable. Mr. Torres patted you on the shoulder and then walked off to finish grading some papers.
Now, as you sat in front of Miguel, you had a better, albeit more intimidating, look at him. He had a strong jawline, amazing cheekbones, brown eyes, tan skin, and brown slicked-back hair. He eyed you up and down as you sat there before snapping, "What?!" You flinched and shook your head. "Nothing! I'm y/n." He scoffed, leaned back in his chair, and crossed his arms over his chest. "I heard. What are you failing at?"
Your face scrunched up, and it was your turn to look him up and down, as if what he had just said was idiotic. "Nothing! I'm not failing at anything i just... need some help with my Spanish." As you pulled out your notebook, he quickly snatched it out of your hand and flipped through its pages. "Clearly. What are all these shitty little drawings?" You attempted to snatch the book back, but he swiftly moved it out of your reach. "They're just some doodles!" you protested. "So you're failing Spanish and art?" he scoffed.
"Miguel, comportarse," Mr. Torres warned. Miguel sighed deeply, scooted his chair forward, and glared down at you with an unamused expression. Gritting his teeth he grumbled "Hola, mi nombre es Miguel. Seré tu tutor. ¿Me puedes decir tu nombre en español?" The fake nice voice he was putting on was in stark contrast to his expression, it was almost amusing, almost. "Uhm... Hola, Miguel. Thank you for tutoring...?" You could only make out a few words, looking up at him unsure of yourself. He nodded his head, the look of endless frustration never changing. You glanced behind you, noticing that your teacher was engrossed in his work. Leaning forward, you whispered, "I... I don't know what that last part meant." Miguel leaned forward, giving you a "yeah, no shit" look before hissing, "I am tutoring you. Why are you looking back at him?"
"Mr. Torres?" you questioned. "No, Cap'n Crunch. Yes, him!" Mr. Torres looked up, and Miguel simply flashed him a very quick and very insincere smile. "Could you say it again, slower?" you asked. "Slow seems to be your forte, so I don’t think I have much of a choice."
The rest of the hour and a half wasn't much different. Miguel would say a few words or phrases, and you would sit there dumbfounded. Some words you knew, others you could make out, and the rest you guessed. When Mr. Torres announced that you could quit for the day, Miguel jumped out of his seat, causing the chair to skid back and make a horrible sound. He grabbed his backpack, slung it over one shoulder, and swiftly pushed the chair in. "Nos vemos," he called out and left.
Quickly gathering your books, you waved at your teacher and ran after him. He had managed to get quite far, and it turned out he was headed in the same direction as you. You half-ran, trying to catch up to him. "Why are you so angry?" Miguel turned around, confused, while walking backward. When he saw you, his shoulders slumped, and he sighed, turning back around. "Lessons over. Go home, pequeña lentita." "I am," you protested. He sighed again.
The rest of the walk ended up being boring. You chose not to ask anything else as Miguel genuinely seemed to not want to be bothered. When you both ended up getting on the same train, you couldn't help but feel jittery. Was this where he was getting off? No? What about now? No?! Holy crap! Did you two live close? Wait... why did you even care? He was a jerk. Looking up, you saw your stop and jumped up, dashing for the doors and making it through just in time. You let out a sigh of relief as you watched the train depart. Guess he still had a few stations to go. Why do you care? You don't! Shoving your hands in your pockets, you headed home, without any music this time.
